Cloud and Pour Point Tester – Low Temperature Petroleum Testing

Cloud and pour point tester for petroleum and lubricating oil testing – Phoenix India Solutions PIS

Cloud & Pour Point Tester

The Cloud & Pour Point Tester is designed for accurate low-temperature testing of petroleum products, lubricating oils, fuels and other applicable samples. Cloud point and pour point are important indicators of the low-temperature performance of petroleum products.

The system incorporates a mechanically refrigerated cascade cooling system with three temperature-controlled compartments. The compartments provide cooling stages of approximately 2°C, -17°C, -35°C and -51°C as specified for the respective compartments.

With four copper chambers immersed in the cooling medium in each of the three compartments, the instrument provides a total of 12 test chambers, making it suitable for petroleum, lubricant, fuel, research and quality-control laboratories.

Test Method

Cloud point and pour point are indicators of the lowest-temperature performance of petroleum products.

The sample is periodically examined while it is being cooled in the Cloud & Pour Point Tester. The highest temperature at which haziness is observed is reported as the cloud point.

The lowest temperature at which movement of the oil is observed is reported as the pour point.

Chamber Configuration

The instrument incorporates three separate cooling compartments designed for low-temperature testing at different temperature levels.

Compartment Specified Temperature Chambers
1st Compartment 2°C 4
2nd Compartment -17°C 4
3rd Compartment -35°C 4
4th Temperature Level -51°C As specified by system configuration

The brochure describes three compartments containing four copper-immersed chambers in each compartment, giving a total of 12 chambers.
